A new year brings in new plans and for BlackBerry, their mission in 2018 is focusing on strengthening their software and security solutions and building out their channel partnerships. CEO of BlackBerry, John Chen, stated the following at the BlackBerry Security Summit, “The last couple of years, we have been very focused on building the channel, BlackBerry always had the technology. Since I came here, we have changed the direction of the company and pivoted to software”.

BlackBerry Security Summit Re-cap

On November 14, Interwork Technologies was a proud partner sponsor at the BlackBerry Summit held in New York. Over 1,000 industry leaders, c-level executives, customers, partners and developers attended this two-day conference to discuss and acquire insights regarding cybersecurity.

This two-day summit consisted of key notes, networking, and a partner showcase centered on the topic of cyber security. Highlights of the event consist of the extension of the BlackBerry enterprise for driving new business models and enhancing workflow capabilities through Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity, and BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite.

“The BlackBerry Security Summit is the premier industry event for today’s enterprise leaders looking to gain new insights on enterprise security” – Carlos Rodrigues, VP Sales at Interwork Technologies.

At the summit, Interwork’s President, Joe Graci, was interviewed by Channelnomics  to  discuss the impact BlackBerry plans to make through the channel in 2018 and the various “under-penetrated” mobile security opportunities available for channel partners. You can read the full article here.

What Partners Can Expect from BlackBerry

BlackBerry currently operates approximately 66% of their business through the channel. BlackBerry’s current statistics indicate a 75% year-to-year growth in enterprise channels and a 25% growth in BlackBerry’s Technology Solutions channels. Their focus going forward in 2018 is to increase their growth in the channel to 80%. This large investment in the channel paves the way for BlackBerry’s continued integration and focus on enterprise security.

With BlackBerry’s re-emergence as a software company, John Chen stated the following, “BlackBerry is focusing on the channel, and we’re making partners, whether go-to-market, value-added, system integrated partners or anything in between, a priority” which addresses the value propositions that current and future partners can expect from BlackBerry in the future.

Having a 5-Star rating on CRN’s 2017 Partner Program Guide under their belt, Channel VAR’s, End Customers, and partners on the BlackBerry Solution line can expect BlackBerry to deliver high-level channel support, dedication to reseller engagement, and the paradigm commitment to helping resellers win more opportunities and assist in acquiring a competitive edge.

Carlos Rodrigues, VP Sales at Interwork Technologies has stated the following regarding BlackBerry’s focus: “BlackBerry is investing in their solutions, support, app ecosystem and channel growth”. With plans set in motion, BlackBerry strives to maintain and grow their global software and security. “However, we feel comfortable saying that we’ll continue to be a major player in security and we’re relying on our channel and partners and their reach to get back on top.”, expresses John Chen and BlackBerry’s future commitments moving forward.
